Job Description

This position involves providing Technical Product Marketing Engineering expertise for wet process capital equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary subject matter expert in Wet Etch Equipment and Process.
  • Ability to present and discuss hardware, process, and market updates.
  • Develops and maintains a plan for the introduction of new Plasma-Therm equipment into the US market.
  • Analyzes and comprehends trends in the assigned market and articulates the impact of these trends on the company’s strategic plans.
  • Analyzes competitive technologies and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains market-based technology roadmaps and their impact on the company’s products.
  • Ability to utilize existing and develop new high-level contacts at customer accounts within assigned market (e.g. CTO, Fab Manager).
  • Develops product positioning in the assigned market for Plasma-Therm products as well as in new or adjacent markets to deliver revenue growth plans by researching market trends, estimating demand, and identifying opportunities.
  • Effectively interfaces with customers/clients, in-house Field Sales Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Management.
  • Supports field sales when appropriate, in calling on key decision-makers, including management representatives at identified and prospective accounts, to overcome obstacles to sales, and coordinate corporate resources to address customer concerns.
  • Manages and coordinates the development of market and product-specific marketing and sales collateral material, including brochures, presentations, and promotional materials, and provides training to field sales staff in the effective utilization of such material.
  • Assists in the review of customer requirements for spec negotiations and preparation of quotations or proposals for fulfilling clients’ needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in device physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science or Semiconductor.
  • MBA in Marketing highly desirable.
  • Wet process experience required. Semiconductor or compound semiconductor experience a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, major credit card (for business travel), and passport.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with market requirement definition and new product launch and support.
  • Ability to interpret technical journals and papers, and other related material.
  • Ability to communicate effectively inter-departmentally, and externally with customers, and other contacts such as vendors.
  • Ability to compile technical reports and present technical material to internal and external groups, including high-level management teams.
  • Ability to travel extensively (approx. 50%) as required to support Sales activities for new or prospective business, as well as trade shows, industry meetings, etc.
  • Ability to negotiate technical aspects of an equipment purchase (including process specifications, hardware configurations, and commercial terms and conditions).
  • Proficient in Windows-based software (Microsoft Office including presentation/graphics applications).

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing laboratory, and clean room. The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, or possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
