Job Description: Cal Aim Consultant

Description:

As a Cal Aim Consultant, you’ll play a critical role in supporting California Counties and nonprofit behavioral health organizations in aligning their policies, billing procedures, and payment systems with the Cal Aim initiative. Your expertise will be pivotal in facilitating compliance with Cal Aim regulations and training stakeholders on various implementation aspects, such as: No Wrong Door, Documentation Requirements, Assessment Standards, Co-occurring Diagnoses, and Criteria for Accessing Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS).

Duties:

  • Policy Adjustment: Assist counties and organizations in adapting their policies to align with Cal Aim standards, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
  • Billing and Payment System Alignment: Guide and support the adjustment of billing and payment systems to meet Cal Aim requirements, maximizing reimbursement opportunities.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on Cal Aim implementation topics, including No Wrong Door principles, documentation standards, assessment criteria, and access to SMHS for adults and children.
  • Consultation and Support: Provide ongoing consultation and support to stakeholders, addressing queries, troubleshooting issues, and offering guidance in navigating Cal Aim-related challenges.
  • Documentation Review: Review documentation practices to ensure they meet Cal Aim standards, offering recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Foster collaborative relationships with county agencies, behavioral health organizations, and stakeholders to streamline Cal Aim implementation efforts.

Desired Skills:

  • Cal Aim Expertise: Profound understanding of Cal Aim regulations, policies, and implementation strategies, particularly regarding No Wrong Door principles and SMHS criteria.
  • Policy Adaptation: Experience in adjusting policies and procedures within the behavioral health sector to comply with state regulations or initiatives.
  • Billing and Reimbursement Knowledge: Familiarity with billing procedures and reimbursement mechanisms related to mental health services in California.
  • Training and Education: Proven ability to design and deliver training sessions on complex regulatory topics, ensuring comprehension and implementation by diverse audiences.
  • Documentation Standards: Strong grasp of documentation requirements and the ability to review and enhance documentation practices to meet Cal Aim standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including county agencies, nonprofit organizations, and behavioral health professionals.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues, offer innovative solutions, and navigate complex challenges related to Cal Aim implementation.
