As the Senior Director of Creative Services for Ascension’s Internal Communications team, you will be responsible for leading strategic content development for the internal and external communications. Through your partnership and planning with other communicators, you and your team will determine how to bring the Ascension story to life for our employee audiences, creating the right mix of engaging visual and written assets that directly support our communication and business objectives. As a creative leader and business strategist, you’ll manage a team of videographers, photographers and designers, and help elevate the Ascension brand across all of our markets and channels. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Internal Communications.


  • Own the development and management of our creative engine for internal and external communications as well as marketing
  • Manage a team of creative professionals, ranging from writers and designers, to videographers, photographers and a visual coordinator
  • Ensure a cohesive tie across our internal and external storytelling
  • Stay tightly aligned with our strategy, planning and in-market teams to determine our written and visual content needs and adjust the asset creation approach as needed
  • Ensure that the content created reflects the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension as a healing ministry of the Catholic Church
  • Maintain flexible availability and responsiveness both during and outside of normal work

Complexity of Work:

As a strategist and a creator, this role requires excellent content strategy, written and visual asset development skills, and a people management background. The ideal candidate will have experience in change management communications and will have worked within a complex organization, across multiple teams, to help set and manage a strategic and measurable content plan and calendar. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. Must be able to work well in a stressful, fast-paced environment




High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.

Additional Preferences


Bachelor’s level degree and advanced degree preferred.

Work Experience:

Ten to fifteen years as a creative director or senior content management professional, ideally in a corporate setting

Excellent written and visual content creation experience

Experience planning and managing a coordinated content approach that directly impacts engagement of key audiences in support of our business goals

People management experience, including oversight of both written and visual creators and designers

Proven driver and communicator across matrixed organizations, helping to gain internal buy-in and support for our creative assets; comfortable with change management communications
