Position Summary:
Substation Foreman
The Substation Foreman will report directly to the Substation General Foreman. This position involves advanced, highly skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, operation, and repair of substations. Responsibilities include planning, laying out, installing, testing, repairing, or maintaining wiring, equipment, control systems, and relays in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Observe, comply with, and promote BRP’s Safety Program, rules, requirements, and corporate safety goals.
- Participate in all safety-related processes, programs, and training.
- Engage with your work team to ensure zero injuries.
- Promptly report all safety issues, including hazard reports, accident reports, and near misses.
- Gain a complete understanding of the scope of work and related project components.
Education & Experience:
- 5 years of recent electrician experience as a Journeyman or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical construction.
- Valid Journeyman certification or equivalent experience as a Journeyman Substation Technician.
- Diploma/certificate from High School, GED, or Line school required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment/Physical Demand:
- Position involves Heavy Work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Work is performed outside with exposure to extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, and noise.
- Willing to work in various locations across the state/country and for extended periods (up to 95% travel).
- Must have the endurance necessary to perform duties throughout a standard eight (8) or ten (10) hour day.
- Always wear personal protective equipment (i.e., Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses, etc.).
