Job Description
We are seeking a 100% time employee (35 hours per week) to serve as a Research Associate with the Family, Sexuality, and Communication Research Initiative at the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. The position will involve a mix of in-person and remote work.
- Conducting a federally funded large-scale evaluation of a comprehensive, school-based sex education program for high school students developed by Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts.
- Developing an online program to support fathers’ health-promoting communication with their teens about sex and relationships, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
- Tasks such as editing papers and proposals, formatting documents, and conducting reviews of literature.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Do outreach and tracking for parental consent return and survey completion across multiple schools.
- Communicate closely with partners at Planned Parenthood and at schools for project planning and documentation.
- Collaborate to hire and train data collectors and manage their data collection schedules.
- Travel to Cleveland as needed to facilitate school-based data collection.
- Recruit and manage online focus groups.
- Coordinate father and teen pilot program participation.
- Manage video recordings and potentially edit videos.
- Assist with writing up of research and potentially future proposals.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Excellent organization and follow-through and a keen eye for detail;
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to interact well with adolescents, parents, and school personnel;
- Ability to prepare literature reviews and research summaries;
- Comfort with talking about sexuality and sexual health;
- Familiarity with conducting research in the social sciences using measurement, evaluation, and assessment tools;
- Strong writing skills.
Experience Preferred
- A Master’s in psychology, education, or related field;
- Research or project coordination experience;
- Spanish proficiency (i.e., ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking study participants);
- Experience using Excel or Qualtrics.

The Wellesley Centers for Women (WCW) is an academic research and action institute at Wellesley College that is focused on women and gender that seeks social change. The mission of WCW is to advance gender equality, social justice, and human wellbeing through high-quality research, theory, and action programs.
This will be a hybrid position with 3-4 days a week in the office. Schedule to be determined in partnership with supervisor.
Work will largely occur during business hours, but occasional evening and weekend hours will be involved for focus group meetings or interviews, with occasional travel to Cleveland, OH.
