Sanctuary Hostel is an innovative nonprofit startup with the goal of creating an eco-hostel that supports community-based animal welfare, to address the stray animal crisis in Mexico. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations and thus not be at risk of returning animals to the streets. We have the land and architectural designs, and are currently fundraising for construction of the facility. Volunteer Role Summary:
We are looking to add experienced and motivated Human Resources Generalist to our team. As Human Resources Generalist, you will primarily be responsible for end-to-end recruitments, onboarding, new hire orientation and Volunteer engagement. You will work closely with all of Sanctuary’s constituents to ensure the long-term success of the organization.
We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist who is passionate about helping animals and has the time and motivation to join our active and ambitious leadership team. New volunteers in this role will primarily be responsible for end-to-end recruitments, onboarding, new hire orientation and Volunteer engagement. We need a lot of help and therefore we are seeking experienced leaders to donate at least four hours a week for at least 6 months to tackle this ambitious and important work. Our Leadership Team meets weekly, typically on a weekday at 5PM or 6PM Pacific time.
Volunteer Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand the human resource needs of the nonprofit and create/post/share position descriptions to find good volunteer candidates
- Process volunteer applications and coordinate introductory sessions to ensure a good fit for both the nonprofit and volunteer
- Conduct monthly check-ins with each volunteer to ensure they are happy with their work environment and are supported/empowered to complete their responsibilities
- Track volunteer engagement and implement volunteer appreciation projects
- Contribute to the development of policies and making recommendations for process improvements
- Identify Departmental KPIs and create regular reports and presentations on these metrics
