Overview:
USS is seeking a talented and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and play a critical role in managing and optimizing our database systems. As a Database Administrator at USS, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our database systems. You will work closely with our development and IT teams to ensure the availability and reliability of our databases, which include SQL Server, MySQL, and other database systems. You will also be involved in database design, maintenance, and troubleshooting, making your expertise critical to the success of our projects.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Database Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patches, to ensure database systems are running smoothly.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues to improve overall system efficiency.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain database security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Database Design: Collaborate with developers and architects to design and implement new database structures to support application requirements.
- Data Migration: Plan and execute data migration projects between different database systems, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss and facilitate disaster recovery.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, working closely with the IT team to ensure minimal downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
- Database Security: Implement access controls, encryption, and auditing to ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations.
- Database Monitoring: Set up and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and address performance and security issues.
