The Opportunity:
RS&H is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer for our Transportation Practice in our Portland office!
RS&H is a leader in structural design nationally, having completed some of the most complex structures in the west. Our bridge design projects have included curved steel and concrete bridges along with complex phasing and accelerated bridge construction. This position performs:
- All conventional aspects of engineering design and development, including the planning and conducting of work requiring more advanced techniques.
- Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of engineering designs for projects of moderate size and complexity.
- Requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Must be able to independently solve problems and make decisions, receiving technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive structural engineering design experience; complex bridge design experience preferred.
- Must have an OR professional engineering (PE).
- Good working knowledge of MicroStation, Excel, MathCad, variety of Structural Design Software, (examples include STAAD, MDX, LPILE, CONSPAN, RISA, LARSA).
- Experience with load ratings.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineering staff.
- Experience doing business development including, meeting clients, working on proposals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registration as an Oregon Professional Structural Engineer (SE).
- Minimum of five years experience working on ODOT projects.
- Master’s degree in structural engineering.
- Experience working on Segmental and Spliced Girder structures.
- Experience working on complex or signature structures.
- Experience working on General Engineering Consultant and Design-Build contracts.
