Position Summary
We have an immediate opening for a paraprofessional/proctor. In this role, you will aid teachers in the day-to-day management of student learning and development. Paraprofessionals help teachers maintain consistency in the online classroom, communicate with students and parents, grade assignments, and more.
You’ll also be called upon, especially in April, to travel the state and proctor standardized tests including but not limited to, SAT, ACT, CMAS, and AASA. This involves mastering the tasks that need to be completed by proctors, engaging with students to ensure attendance, traveling to and from multiple testing locations, setting up equipment and furniture, tearing down equipment, and reporting results.
To be successful, you’ll need to be a hands-on initiative taker. We need a solid communicator who can make suggestions, take constructive feedback with a good attitude and without pushback, and then go out and personally execute with diligence. If you like working with others to make a difference for students, we’re probably a good fit.
This position is part-time for the 2023/2024 school year. When proctoring, extensive in-state travel is required.
Job Duties
- Coordinate with teachers to ensure students have high-quality, timely feedback on assignments covering multiple disciplines and grade levels;
- Communicate with students about their lessons and offer positive feedback to aid in their development;
- Support teachers in managing the online classroom by setting up sections, posting announcements, adding content, and managing video sessions;
- Lead multiple face-to-face student assessment events;
- Act as primary and supporting proctor ensuring mastery of the tasks required to fulfill all proctoring duties;
- Communicate with families in the days and hours before a testing session to ensure attendance;
- Maximize student safety by ensuring safe sign-in and sign-out procedures are adhered to; and
- All other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, team environment and juggle multiple tasks;
- Confirmed ability to travel extensively by car in-state and lead face-to-face student testing events;
- Strict attention to detail; and
- Achieve daily performance metrics.
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree or comparable work experience demonstrating proficiency in specific academic subject areas;
- Two (2) years customer service experience;
- Two (2) years working in an educational setting preferred;
- Strong technical background preferably using the Google suite; and
- Ability to pass required background check.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 28 per week
