Job Description
As a Senior Observability Engineer, you will be the driver of both transformation and innovation. You will design, deliver, and operate solutions for various business capabilities and must possess fluency in Linux, automation, scripting, security, and networking fundamentals. You will help Rockwell move to a Cloud-Smart operating model that creates best-in-class, agile, and on-demand IT products and services.
What you will do
- Contribute to the observability management effort for a large, diverse, and complex existing computing environment
- Design, build, and maintain observability standards
- Design, build, and maintain observability automation for computing environments
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and education for team members and coworkers on best practices with a specific focus on Linux and Windows operating systems
- Monitor computing environments and develop ways to improve monitoring and alerting
- Develop automated runbooks for common tasks and resolving support escalation issues
- Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects
- Implement and manage CI/CD tools with the team
- Document and design various processes; update existing processes
- Improve infrastructure development and application development
- Improve application, development, and infrastructure through code
- Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company
- Build relationships and interact with peers to ensure assigned tasks are prioritized appropriately
- Think outside the box and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards

You will report into Technical Leader- Automation Platforms
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening
- Understanding of enterprise monitoring concepts and hands-on experience with their practical implementations, for Windows and Linux, on premises and in the cloud. These will include:
- Discovery
- Monitors and Counters
- Events and Event Correlation
- Alerting
- Self-Healing and Automated Response
- Data Analysis
- Reporting and Dashboards
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in understanding of enterprise monitoring concepts and hands-on experience with their practical implementations, for Windows and Linux, on premises and in the cloud
- While we are always on the lookout for the best tools and techniques, the following is a list of technologies related to our monitoring ecosystem that we are currently invested in and seek expertise with: Zabbix Monitoring, Kubernetes and Docker, VMWare ESX and VCenter, Azure Public Cloud Microsoft and Operation Management Suite (OMS)
- Be conversant with, and exposed to Agile SCRUM on Jira , Architecture and Operational Documentation on Confluence , Configuration Management Database on ServiceNow and Global Zone Business Operations
