The Clinical Specialist Role
The Clinical Specialist (CS) is a key contributor to the regulatory standards and clinical outcomes of clinics within an assigned geographic region. Reporting directly to the next level of clinical management, which may be the Director of Clinical Operations or Vice President of Clinical Operations/Services, depending on the region, demographics, or responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing Clinical Operations: Responsible for managing the overall clinical operation of assigned clinics, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering growth in line with Company goals.
- Development and Transition: Assist in the clinical operational development and transition of new or acquired clinics as needed.
- Quality of Care Processes: Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality of care processes to ensure program regulatory compliance in alignment with Company goals.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure that clinical processes in assigned USRC facilities adhere to company policy and federal, state, and local regulations. Stay informed and current with relevant laws and regulations.
- Certification and Meetings: Conduct internal clinical reviews to assure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Organize and oversee required Governing Body meetings, monthly CQI meetings, and care plan conferences.
- Evaluation of Patient Care: Evaluate patient care data to ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and organizational performance standards.
- Mission and Philosophy: Understand, lead, and promote the Company’s mission and philosophy regarding ethics, integrity, safety, corporate responsibility, and objectives.
- Communication and Reporting: Regularly communicate with clinical operations management and regional management regarding the status of each clinic in the region.
- Staff Qualifications: Ensure all clinical staff meet required qualifications and perform duties within established limitations and in accordance with company policies, procedures, health care professionals’ practice acts, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Orient and Mentor: Orient and mentor Administrators in the QAPI process, outcomes, education programs, and operational readiness following USRC practices.
Requirements
- Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current RN or LVN/LPN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing.
- Two (2) years experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis within the last three (3) years.
- Extensive knowledge of dialysis industry standards and regulations governing ESRD facilities.
- Previous dialysis management experience preferred.
- CNN or CHN certification preferred within two (2) years of accepting position. Individuals assigned to Georgia clinics must apply for CNN or CHN certification within thirty (30) days of accepting position and obtain certification within six (6) months.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire; CPR Trainer Certificate may be required.
- Valid driver’s license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current, without restrictions, and good driving record.
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to read, analyze, and write reports.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and oversee multiple locations.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.
