Job Opening: Medical Billing Clerk
We are seeking a proficient medical billing clerk to join our team and take charge of invoicing and patient account management. In this role, you will engage with patients regarding outstanding amounts, potentially involving interactions with collection agencies. Additionally, you will liaise with medical aid companies to secure authorization for payment of medical procedures.
- Manage patient accounts and prepare invoices.
- Input patient information and maintain up-to-date records using computer software.
- Ensure timely delivery of patient accounts.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering calls and responding to emails.
- Collect and record medical aid details, obtaining authorization from medical aid companies.
- Follow up on late and seriously overdue accounts.
- Adhere to work procedures and compliance with hospital or clinic rules, as well as state and federal laws.
- Stay informed about medical service rates for up-to-date billing.
- Meticulously handle patient records, accounts, and payments while maintaining confidentiality.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of administrative experience in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or economics.
- Skills: Basic mathematical skills, excellent communication skills, above-average organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to process payments.
- Proficiency: Account data input, knowledge of medical coding procedures.
Pay: $17.26 – $25.58 per hour
