Job Summary

As OSP Engineer 2, your priority is engineering fiber/GPON designs to include FTTH, backbones, and passive/electronic cabinets. This will include engineering & designing these projects in CAD/GIS or both. This role will also include overseeing QA/QC of designs our engineering partners perform.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing CAD, ArcMap, QGIS, or 3GIS to develop engineering & construction prints for new fiber to the home (FTTH) architectures.
  • Engineering fiber/GPON designs to include FTTH, backbones, and passive/electronic cabinets.
  • Preparing plans and specifications, including gathering field data.
  • Preparing plan and profile drawings.
  • Working closely with the permitting coordinator to understand all permitting requirements prior to design.
  • Assuring the most feasible, and economical means to complete the work.
  • Overseeing QA/QC of other engineering designs internally and externally.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 Years’ Experience with OSP (ISP Preferred but not required).
  • BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong grasp on OSP engineering and design principles.
  • Experience with FTTH & backbone designs.
  • Experience with CAD, ArcMap, QGIS, or 3GIS preferred.
  • Experience with Hexatronic architectures preferred – including underground and aerial.
  • Understanding OSP fiber construction to include plowing, trenching, boring, and aerial.
  • Fiber design utilizing maps and field notes.
  • Fluent on current approved GPON products and technologies.
  • ROW and permit experience.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Strong Computer Skills (Databases, Processes, and Administrative).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill for more complex applications to include CAD, ArcMap, QGIS, or 3GIS, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and effective in multi-tasking.
  • Capable of working independently to achieve deliverables and resolve urgent/complex issues.

Additional Details:

At a minimum, a background check, education verification, employment verification, and drug screen will be conducted upon hire. Your suitability for employment is contingent upon successfully passing these required pre-employment screenings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year

  • GIS: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Permitting (Including Right of Way and Research): 2 years (Preferred)
  • TIA-598-C: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Centralized Split: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Distributed Split: 1 year (Preferred)
  • OSP Engineering: 10 years (Preferred)
